I’m driven by a desire to make things. The act of creating feels like the truest expression of self. My art is about open expression, and detachment from end products. The process of making the art is what feels purposeful. Learning along the way, developing techniques and tools, is more satisfying than having a completed piece of art. I have been working with gypsum putty because I enjoy the blend of painting and sculpting. The 3D line work creates an interesting dynamic with the light, color, and shadows.

I began this creative journey in November 2025. I watched a clip of an author at a panel answering the question of how to get over writer’s block. To paraphrase, the answer was “…be a bad writer”. The idea is that trying to write something good prevents people from writing at all. My idea of making “good” art kept me from creating anything. With this new found perspective, I set out to make some shitty art. Once I made my first piece, I saw what I could do better the next time, and then the process was clear.

With each piece, I learn new tricks, techniques, new ideas, new tools, and the possibilities continue to expand.

I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t know where this this going. I am loving every bit of it.
