Boho Hair

Boho Hair

First Installation

April 2, 2026

Flowing lines like wavy hair.

A friend asked if I could help with molding in the bathroom of their new salon. I was excited for a new challenge and to put my art somewhere public.

Where the boards are mounted is covering pocked cement. There had been molding that were as beaten up as the concrete it covered. Rather than trying to smooth the wall, I thought it would be more efficient to make boards to be mounted over the wall entirely.

I surfaced the boards as I’d been doing for previous work. Once they dried, I sanded them a bit on the edges so they’d line up well after installation.

I mounted the boards and filled the gaps between pieces. I used some gypsum on the top and bottom to smooth the transition between pieces as well. After drying, I did the base layer of paint which ended up being a more difficult task than expected. I had to detail the lines closely so no white was showing towards the bottom edges. The colors picked for the lines were based off the flooring. I did the best I could to keep a single color from being directly next to itself.
