Egret

The First Design
January 23, 206
This egret was part of a larger project that I ended up making separately. The design was done for a friend and was going to be part of a larger mural. The plans for the mural didn’t work out and I couldn’t let this design lay dormant.
This was the first design I transferred to the substrate. It was insightful to see how the scale of a design transferred to a work surface. Having some guidelines to work with helps a lot. Luckily, my work allows for free-styling from the outlines.
I used two new tips. The raised ridge lines for the sun, and the valley type tip for the water. I chose the ridges for the sun because it can have two different color tones on the top and bottom of the ridge that add to the sun image. The valley tip was chosen for the water because the white would should along with the paint to create perspective of flowing, moving water.
